Compare that to Rise of the Tomb Raiders Windows Store sales vs. It's not the most elegant solution and it does piss some people off but they are still selling games. Look at Ubisoft, they created and implemented UPlay into basically all of their titles of the last 4-5 years but still sells their games through Steam. (or simply because they weren't on Steam depending on how you want to look at it) Those are all lost sales and lost revenue, just because MS Store and Steam are competing stores doesn't mean they shouldn't offer their product there.

It's not quite as volatile as other markets and just taking this forum as a frame a reference there are plenty of people who skipped out on the last couple BF games, Dragon Age, Gears Ulti etc just because they were only available on Origin and now the MS Store.

In this case it absolutely makes sense to offer their product on both the Windows 10 Store and Steam. I was thinking more along the lines of "neutral products" if you will, like games, music, movies etc. The Apple and Windows 10 thing isn't quite apples to apples either, imo.

We don't that's why I said in a perfect world. We'll see how this pans out but as I said, I'm skeptical myself but it IS a step in the right direction.ĮDIT: For clarifications sake, this particular rant is directed towards MS and their Windows Store Policies / recent push back into PC Gaming and has nothing to do with my earlier comments/thoughts on Forza. EA made similar moves with origin and I am 100% confident they lost out of tons of sales/revenue simply by making their new games exclusive. In a perfect world we'd be able to get all PC games from our store's of choice (Origin, Steam, WinStore, GOG Galaxy etc) but until I think it's a huge mistake to at least not offer their games on Steam. This definitely has shades of that, and my personal fear is them blaming the Dev's or external factors for poor sales when a lot of it is going to be directly related to AppStore exclusivity. It is a step in the right direction but I'm also incredibly leery of the whole thing as I experienced their original push of GFWL at Vista's launch with Halo 2 and Shadowrun. I'm not entirely thrilled with MS's stance of locking/tying all of their games to the Win10 appstore but also I can't say I'm not happy to finally see the release of Gears, Forza, Quantum Break and Halo Wars 2 on PC even if they are "gimped".
